If I were to be honest, the motivation just hasn’t been there!

During this time in my life, my body is going through aging changes and I feel like I’m on autopilot a lot of the time. It’s getting better since I’ve started our reset, but it’s not 💯 there.

If I worked out when I felt like it, I wouldn’t have the last couple of months. I’ve been lacking motivation. I’ve also been doing this long enough to know that I can’t go based on my feelings or motivation, otherwise I would be in a rut that’s hard to get out of, lose the progress I’ve worked so hard to achieve, and my health would be a mess.

Life is full of ups and downs, moments of “let’s do this”, to times of “ugh…this feels like a chore”. If you base your healthy lifestyle and your workout routines on your feelings, you’re constantly going to be spinning your wheels, never getting anywhere.

So how do you overcome that?

I would love to give you this uplifting, powerful, motivating speech that would knock your socks off, but I don’t have one. What I’m going to give you is some tough love and truth.

You have to decide what your goals are in life and where you want to be and then you have to forge through whether you feel like it or not!

Dave and I plan our workouts like appointments and we do them whether we want to or not, because we have to do them. Some are great, some are not. Sometimes we don’t feel like it and we just start and they end up being the best workout and sometimes we fumble through the whole thing, but we do them. They are non negotiable because we have goals, and more importantly, we’re both aging and our workouts are a must to our quality of life.

Make the dates with yourself and keep them, just like you would a doctors appointment. You can also find yourself a workout partner to help keep yourself accountable. I have Dave, yes, but I also have 2 other women that I send my workout selfies to every time I workout. One I have done this with for 2 years now. It’s accountability.

You might not feel like it, but get up and just do it. 90% of the time you will be so glad you did. The other 10%, whether you felt like it or not, your body needed it.

Sometimes we just need tough love. The healthy lifestyle is not all highs and feel goods. It’s get up and do it! Quit quitting and making excuses. Be stronger than your excuses. Your body, mind and soul need this! Moving is your body consistently is NOT optional, it’s mandatory.

So let me ask you, are you going to let your emotions and feelings guide you?

Or….

Are you going to decide TODAY, is a new day and you’re going to make the change, get your butt in gear and start moving your body just simply because you need to.
